Compassion's Survival efforts focus on the health and development of children in the womb, offering support to pregnant mothers through a mentoring relationship with a Survival Implementer. Mothers and caregivers receive holistic education and guidance about their children’s development, as well as access to health resources throughout pregnancy and their child’s first five years of life. This support ensures parents and caregivers are equipped to provide a healthy foundation from which children can grow and achieve outcomes well into the future.
The Survival and Early Childhood (SEC) curriculum has been redesigned to support new Survival outcomes for pregnant mothers, supporting caregivers and babies. The new curriculum includes two versions for ages 0-1:
SEC Global Resource Curriculum (GRC). Redesigned to support new Survival outcomes for pregnant mothers, supporting caregivers and babies. These are text lessons with supporting illustrations.
A new CareGroup (CG) model curriculum composed primarily of illustrations. This model features two kinds of lessons: illustration-based and activity-based.
Both versions of curriculum strongly emphasizes the spiritual growth of mothers and their families through a new Spirit-led approach called Growing in God’s Love. Every lesson invites the whole family—mother, father and extended family members—to receive God’s love for themselves, so they can naturally bear the fruit of protecting and nurturing their children. The curriculum is centered on the belief that God’s loving presence is the true source of holistic life change. Families learn how to invite the Holy Spirit’s guidance and prayerfully reflect on the heart’s role in practicing and accepting new behaviors.
Both 0-1 Year curriculum sets have the same number of lessons, teach the same topics, and include group lessons, home visit lessons, and implementer devotionals. The main difference is the illustrations and the approach used to teach the content. 1-3 Years will follow the CareGroup Model format only.
Each curriculum set includes devotionals designed to encourage implementers in their relationship with God and guide them as they learn to receive and give God's love so that they have a deep well of spiritual wellbeing to draw from when teaching. 0-1 Year has 12 implementer devotionals, and 1-3 Years has 24. Scope and Sequence documents for both curriculum versions are also available. These documents describe the recommended sequence for the core lessons as well as the selection of additional lessons, which are used as needed.
Materials are broken out by age range (0-1 Year and 1-3 Years). Within an age range, click on a category to be taken to a page that gives more information about that curriculum set, known as a series. To download and use the whole curriculum set, click DOWNLOAD. A zip file containing all materials will download to your computer. To preview and download specific lessons, scroll down on the series page and click on a lesson. Implementer Devotionals and Scope and Sequence documents each have their own categories.
